The northern section is the highest, mainly composed of Paleozoic granite and older metamorphic rocks. The mountain gradually increased from south to north, formed during the Mesozoic Nevada orogenic movement, and composed most of the extruded rocks. It starts from British Columbia in Canada in the north, passes through Washington and Oregon in the United States, and finally reaches California. The Cascade Range is a major mountain range in North America. Helens and Mount Rainier in Washington, and Mount Garibaldi in British Columbia.
